Ok, so I looked up all the prices of the 'Build the Best $1300 PC - Dec 2012' and it came to $2100. This is basically because I live in New Zealand, so wut do? Would it be best to buy from another country and get it shipped?
Anyway, prepare to be shocked by these prices:
i5 3570K - $315
OCZ V4 128GB - $180
ASRock Z77 - $199
Corsair 750W 80+ (Closest thing I could find cause aparently there are no XFX on this island) - $215
Gigabyte Radeon HD7970 (No HIS on this island either) - $619
Fractal R4 - $199
Mushkin 2x8gb 1600 - $199
NZXT Havik 140 - $129
And finally, even the cheapest optical is - $49 including shipping, and I can't pull it out of current rig cause its dead.
All these prices are the cheapest I could find and they come from 3 different online stores.
You can save some money by getting rid of that Corsair 750w and purchasing a quality 550-650w power supply. Your card in a overclocked 3960X under the highest load pulls 391watts out of the wall : http://www.anandtech.com/show/5261/amd-radeon-hd-7970-review/27
A quality 550-650w will handle that very well and save you a few dollars as well, as long as you are not planning to crossfire two 7970's in the future. International shipping will cost you even more and have a high risk of issues occur(damage, things getting lost etc). Did you look around for New Zealand online retailers? How is the weather in New Zealand today?
The problem is, this gives me USD instead of NZD and also, all of the sites did not ship to NZ when I put in the parts. It did come out to be 1370USD or 1500NZD though, which is a 500$ difference. I may have to pay for them to get shipped here, but it would probably be 500$ with my luck
These are the prices from pricespy.co.nz which gets the cheapest possible from any online or walk-in retailer (Similar to pcpartpicker but does other things that is not pc related). Weather was shiet in Auckland, I work outside and the first half of my 10 hour shift was in blaring sunlight which made me sweaty as faurk, and the other half was in light showers. Islands like NZ with lots of coast tend to have rapidly changing weather like that, sucks balls sometimes
It is a good thing New Zealand folks are strong then! I found a decent option for you, first up:
XFX 650 http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?e=734270 138 euros it has all the PCI-e 6+2 connectors you could want with a 5 year warranty and 53amp 12v single rail.
If the 2500k is less please do get it, it is a properly badass processor still! The 7950 is also a proper card but it shares the territory with the GTX660Ti, see which card is cheaper as they both trade blows in games. Here is a bench of the 7950 vs 660ti : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=647
As you can see in some games the 7950 pulls ahead and in others the 660ti pulls ahead.
