OpnSense Wifi config

So I assembled a router and installed OpnSense. I just managed to figure out how to config OPT1 infterface (optional lan).

I cannot get the wifi interface to work it wont even show up as an interface.

I am using a Asus PCE-AC51, Wireless-AC750, 802.11ac Dual-Band PCI-E Adapter.
Anyone have any ideas? Is it not supported by OpnSense?

This post states that 802.11ac cards are not supported only 802.11n, BUT it was made in Jan 2018

Thank you for any input

It’s a BSD issue, AFAIK.

it looks like BSD just got someone to work on implementing 802.11 AC last year

You are probably better off running an external wi-fi AP, that is connected to the LAN, if you need newer protocols for wi-fi.

yeah… for the time being, I took the wifi card out of the OpnSense machine and put it in another computer, then configured a hotspot. Not an elegant solution.

Hopefully, the devs come through
