Opinions of windows 7

i was wanting some of your guys opinions of the os as i may upgrade or do a dual boot, mainly reguarding to stability with drivers, running applications, and xp virtualization, how good does it work guys?

its great, get it.

windows 7 is awesome and very goood

I've had it for 2 months now.
Running a gigabyte Win 7 compatible motherboard, Gigabyte gtx 200 series and E8500.
I've only had 2 annoying (recurring) problems.
1: computer displays on screen only 25% of the time on start up.
2: Nvidia driver (when installed) cuts of the screen (most of the time).
And I'm pissed about losing my COD4 profile, but that's probably not OS's fault.

Other then that it looks great, feels great and I've only ever had this OS on this computer so i don't know what to say speed wise.

the only thing that dosent work
is COD4 and CSS

but the OS is great !!!!

Great OS, Used it for a while. There is apparently a glitch with the Built 7100, RC1. My Windows Explorer always crashes and i read many others are getting the same thing with 7100. But Im like 100% MS would have fixed this for the final version

COD 4 definitely works. (for me) (apart from that one incident).
But actually I found CS CSS and CSCZ(?) doesnt work for me either. scratch that, CSS is actually working now.

I haven't found anything to really be a worthwhile upgrade over Vista. There are just a couple small features. It runs a little bit faster than Vista which was nice, but that could have been the reformat all together.

Well i find that almost every time when i install an os something goes wrong, there was this one vista install where portal simply would not work. It just couldn't be done. It's been good every other install. My current windows 7 install has a little big where if you hover over any desktop icon, you see a little box for a checkmark and it's on the bottom right, now it's on the top left for no reason. The same image never did that before. I've only ever gotten a "perfect" installation once or twice.

I have just upgraded my RC to rtm windows 7. Its superb!
The install was a bit tricky tho, I had to disconnect my storage 1tb drive in order to be able to install on the 500gb drive..

Running ultimate x64 of the RTM version and I dunno, it does look better and its easier to work with then XP and Vista, only minor tweaks over the latter. For the rest, its just meh... Don't really feel like things go faster running this OS then any other, just using it since its way easier to work with imo.

Whaaa??

Maybe in your build version but I have build 7600 and both work flawlessly.

I've only had it for 2 days but it's pretty amazing for me.

Games I already have on Windows 7:
COD4
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Counter Strike Source
ARMA 2 (uninstalled)
Guitar Hero 3 and 4
Grid
The new Batman.
and GTA 4

It's kinda sad because I gave up 37 games when I reformatted :/

I run Windows Seven build 7100 and haven't encountered a game that did not run.

so from what i hear from all you raze the world'rs its a pretty sable as of now, any one with ati cards , preferibly the hd4k series have any imput on that?

My brother has a 4870 and uses Windows 7.

He doesn't play many games though but the driver seems stable so far.

yeah im planning on doing an amd build consisting of vista xp and 7, and im probibly going to use the hd4770 and now that i know the drivers are stable its even better

  1. Looks good
  2. Runs more stable and better than Vista.
  3. Needs less resources than Vista but more than XP.
  4. I'll still stick to my XP due to the fact that I can't do an upgrade and I need to copy all my crap again.
