Hey, for my first build and since I have to pay for the parts, I'm going with a AMD fx-4200, and I was wondering if this is good. Also I was wondering since it says that its OEM, does that mean I'm going to have to buy a lot of them. And is the performance good?
Well, Ideally, you'll want at least 30 CPUs in a gaming rig, but 100 of them would be great. The more the merrier.
I think it would be in your best interest to give us a price range and allow us to make builds for you in order to maximize performance.
It's not bad AFAIK. Also I don't understand the second half of your post.
its zambezi, so not realy great.
Cores are a bit slow.
Yes, but in context that means less than it could (and probably should).
He's going to need 350 i7 5960Xs if he wants to run Firefox though.... may be able to play minesweeper at 15 FPS with them as well... but not Galactica....
and I was wondering if this is good. Also I was wondering since it says that its OEM, does that mean I'm going to have to buy a lot of them.
what the hell are you talking about op?
My price range is around 300 - 325 and the cash is on the graphics card, I'm getting an AM3+ mobo so upgrades are something that will happen, Also I want to get into programming and some stuff with metasploit among other things, Don't worry about the gaming side of things because I already have a hard drive with windows 7
Is that just for the cpu, or in total?
You might as well just get an FM2+ quadcore if you don't plan on upgrading to an 8350 in the future. 860ks are pretty cheap atm. around $70 last I checked.
And ya is the $300 the total budget for your rig?
Theres a few people messing with you on here, ignore them. If you already have the fx4200 thats fine it will play games just fine. If not, then go with the AMD Athlon X4 860k and a A88 fm2+ series motherboard. If you need a video card the AMD 270 or 270x is best bang for the buck right now.
I do plan on going up, and yes, I already got a plan worked out on the pc part picker
Wait did you already have the 4xxx CPU? Because like the 6300 costs just as much.
OEM does not mean that you have to buy them in bulk - I'm pretty sure that it means that need to get your own CPU cooler.
all ready on it
