Hi Everyone, no pics as yet, but will spill my guts here:

CPU:  AMD A10-6800K

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti OC 2GB

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

MB: Asrock FM2A85X-ITX (New MB arriving tomorrow, Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H, had my fun with ITX)

RAM:  G.Skill Ripjaws 2133mhz 8GB kit (Replacing with Corsair Veng. Pro 1600mhz soon)

SDD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

HDD: 2.5" WD Black 750gb (SATA II drive, replacing with 3.5" 4TB WD Black soon)

PSU: Corsair HX650 650W 80+ Bronze

Case:  Bitfenix Prodigy Warrior case. (New case arriving with new MB, Corsair Veng. C70)

Optical Drive: Samsung USB external DVD Writer (Rarely used)

Mouse/Keyboard: Corsair M65 / Corsair Veng. K60

Monitors: 2x Dell P2210's (Oldies, but solid monitors)

It's like google, forever in Beta, I will end up changing a number of things yet, but as it stands, it's been a great system.

I'll end up getting a Kaveri APU in there, switch out the 650 Ti for something along the lines of a R9 series card, may upgrade the PSU, then rebuild the old hardware back into the prodigy for a steam box rig type thing. (Recycling like a champ haha)

Any comments or suggestions welcome, I can't comment on how much this stuff cost me yet, (as it's nearly 2am in Australia and my brain is too sleepy even for basic calculations at this stage... :P) but it would be a buttload more expensive than in the US or even the UK... Bloody "Australia tax"...

I initially planned on doing some CAD and small server with this, but turns out the schooling program I was in wasn't even going to touch CAD for a couple years. Server didn't work out either because the internet in the dorm frequently quit with no reason. Still, I did get everything on decent sales, so it didn't completely destroy my wallet. Just mostly.

Corsair C70 with some plugged vents

MSI Z77A-GD55 LGA 1155 Motherboard

Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 Processor

Stock cooler for the win!

Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2 GB

G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage DDR3 1600 2x4 GB RAM

Seasonic X650 Gold Power Supply

Samsung 830 Series 128 GB Solid State Drive

Western Digital Black 750 GB, 64 MB Cache Hard Drive

I ended up plugging a top vent and both side vents on the case because 1) I didn't need them, 2) Just another place for dust, and 3) Dogs. I found way too much dog fur in the case the last time I cleaned it. The motherboard I got because it was reasonably priced and has room for upgrades if I decide to keep it long enough, The processor I got because of the plans listed above, but I also read some reviews on it for gaming beforehand and they seemed to work well for people. I don't think I've ever even come close to maxing it out in a game before. Oh, and it doesn't have the integrated graphics that I would never use anyways and it uses less power. The graphics card I purchased a little while after the 7xxx series came out, so the card ended up being less than $200 to my door. Low voltage RAM and Gold PSU yo, because environment and stuff. The SSD is used for OS and certain applications, the rest is tossed on the WD Black.

Other than that, I use a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard and Corsair M65 mouse. I ended up getting good sales on these too, so it worked out in the end.

Unfortunately no pictures (yet) because the thing is in parts and packed up while I try to figure out the best way to cover the holes I don't need while still looking decent. The thin plywood veneer that I did use before doesn't look the best. I also need to figure something out with those drive cages and fan mounts.

Hello guys,
I am new to the forums and I would like to introduce myself by showing off my latest build. It's about 7 months old now. I upgraded from a Core 2 Duo E6600 build that was 6 years old then, and I decided to go all out.

  • GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia Gefore GTX 780 Windforce OC

  • Storage: Samsung 840 PRO 128GB SSD Boot drive + 1 TB Hitachi 7200RPM HDD

nice build! ^^^

Why such a massively oversized PSU?

Looks good, regardless.

It was a good price for it and it leaves me plenty of headroom for a possible SLI upgrade in the future.

I am in the process of a rebuild and will post pics later.
