[Official] L1Techs KVM FAQ -- Ultimate Guide & Help!

We did have a success report with what seems like the same Samsung monitor you’re inquiring about:

This was achieved with this KVM:

The most important thing for you is going to be cables. You’re going to need as much bandwidth as possible.

however

Hmmm, I would recommend our new HDMI 2.1 KVMs to you, but Idk how that would work with only 1 HDMI 2.1 connection (from the 4090). What you would have to do is accept the top monitor wouldn’t be 8k 120, but the bottom would be (or vice versa).

What dock / laptop do you have? Is it HDMI 2.1? If so, this would be a good solution for you.

If you did go this route:

  • The L1Techs HMDI 2.1 KVMs are compatible with VRR (G-Sync / FreeSync).
  • HDMI 2.1 fiberoptic is wayyyyy cheaper than DisplayPort fiberoptic.
  • Those Samsung 8K displays have HDMI 2.1 input.
  • 4090 GPUs have HDMI 2.1 output.
  • HDMI 2.1 can support 7680x2160 resolution at 240 Hz, so with fiberoptic cabling you should be OK to achieve that. I would NOT get regular cables and attempt this. Use fiberoptic for best compatibility.
