Ocing my fx 6300

Right so i have the AMD FX 6300 and i want to oc it to around 4.5 GHz.

I have the Asrock 990fx extreme 3 motherboard (i know it's not the best) and i find the UEFI really hard to understand. I have a seperate post about a problem with the UEFI.

I also have recently purchased the cooler master hyper 212 evo and installed it ready so i can oc.

I have a basic understanding of what im doing but would really appreciate some help especially with the UEFI.

Also i'm going to oc my hd 7770 and would like to hear opinions on what would be a good oc and what performance increase i can recieve from the cpu and gpu oc in games such as BF4 and watchdogs

Thanks for all the help

Asrock 990fx extreme 3 isent a good mobo to oc on it only has a 4+1 unheatsinked power phase (just dont oc on it)

but i really want a performance boost and won't get another mobo untill christmas at least or probably march or summer next year

Use the turbo core on the cpu and overclock the gpu. Best way really. Try and keep air moving across the vrms.

ok cheers

Ya , a new mb is in order if you want to seriously oc your cpu. Something with a alittle vrm cooling and better power phases will make life alot easier.

ok what would you recommend i'll have to get a job and start saving (only 15 and hard to get a job in the uk)

yup, get job. i have had one since i was ten.

If you get a new mobo look at Asus or asrock with at least 8+2 power phase. I had a fx6300 on my Asus crosshair formula mobo and I had no problems over clocking up to   5.1ghz.  With a decent mobo and the 212 evo you should have no problems getting 4.5ghz. The thing is with your 7770 even over clocked it will not push a  stock fx6300 to its limit so over clocking of the CPU really isn't necessary for gaming but may speed up other things a bit. My [email protected] with 270x didn't really perform much better than stock in most games. If I were you keep your mobo enable the fx6300 turbo and buy a 270x or gtx760 instead of a new mobo.

How about you try it before buying anything.
