OC at highest TDP

I'm gona build a pc, and I have selected an FX 6300 with an ASUS M5A78 L M LX3. Now Iv got a strict budget and need to know will the fx 6300 hold out Atleast 4ghz?

Problem is the mobo supports only upto 95w, and the cpu itself is 95w, so no headroom.

I wouldn't overclock at all on that board. There aren't any VRM heatsinks and it's only got a 4+1 phase design.

What is your budget for a pc build? and do you need a operating system and where are you located (the M5A78 L M LX3 is not suitable for overclocking or gameing)
gameing systems can generate a lot of heat with a gpu pumping 70c air in to a closed space like a space heater.

I will be using the hyper 212x EVO on that mobo. Is it just extremely bad? I mean even if I oc just a bit like 4 ghz. I mean the turbo reaches that much. About the closed space thing the case I'm selecting has 2 system fans and i have one so that makes 3. Its the tesseract. I live in India so the prices are pretty high here. Il just send u links now and you just tell me which is the best one.

Sorry bro but my budget already is breached

So ur telling me that I won't be able to game atall on this mobo? Any particular points where this mobo falls behind?

You can still play games but don't overclock. That really is a weak board, which is why we usually recommend getting a lower end cpu and a good motherboard to ensure system stability. Do not overclock on that board, and when you have some money upgrade it to a nice 990fx board like the Asus 990fx pro 2.0

Sorry but that FX 6300 will only hold 4ghz at above a 95w TDP.. remember once you overclock recent AMD the TDP skyrockets.. you can get 4ghz down to a 95w TDP IF you disable two cores.. I would suggest a motherboard with a 125w tdp limit at least

Plus no heatsinks on VRM. you are seriously asking for the blue smoke to leave your chips

My 6300 is on a ASUS M5A97 R2.0 with a 212+ and it could do 4.4 by I have it set at 4.2. As previously mentioned the mobo you are considering is quite weak. Try not to cheep out too much on a mobo its the foundation of your build.

Ok so if I won't oc atall, will the cpu survive Atleast 24 fps on ultra in the latest games in 2015? I really want to play all my games on ultra. Heres my specs

FX 6300 3.5 ghz
M5A78L M LX3
CORSAIR VENGEANCE 4 + 8 GB RAM
R9 270X TRI TOXIC
AN SSD 3GBs
1TB HDD

And a bit off topic but can u guys siggest a psu? I mean wattage. How about a corsair 500w?

It might be fine at stock speeds, but I wouldn't even think about overclocking on that board.

And I'd make sure it's in a very ventilated case. That CPU might dump a bunch of heat onto the VRMs heating it up even more at high loads.

Get a BEEFY PSU 600watts-1Kw and an 990FX series board -if you don't care much about the power bill....

i have a water cooled fx4320 on a Asus M5A99FX PRO R 2.0 mobo running at 5.16 ghz OC
and the funny part is it actually stays cool. any higher and i get some over voltage issues.

a psu like that is not realy needed.

decent 450W is allready enough.

Thank you misteryangel. Yes I do care about the power bill. So a 450w is enough for these specs?

Fx 6300 @ 3.5 ghz
R9 270x ( could u guys suggest a non bottleneck gpu?)
Asus M5A78 L M LX3
1TB HDD
60GB SSD
CORSAIR 2 x 4 GB RAM
Asus DVD WRITER

Yeah that's. If I'm missing something out tell me.

Hunt down parts on the forums and upgrade that board a little, other than that it looks good. I got some 120GB ssds i'd sell ya for 40 bucks each if that helps you at all..

And i just came across this mobo which I think has a 125 w TDP. It's 10 $ away and I can buy it. Only reason I'm backing out is Im not sure it has core unlocking. Cud u guys check it out and tell me if that is good?
Gigabyte GA78LMT S2PV.

Sorry I dint see this mobo before.

Honestly brother, I wouldn't cheap out on the board...get a m5a99fx pro r2.0, then you can throw any OC at it that you want, with that hyper 212 you could probably get it to 4.4 or 4.5 ghz easy.
