Obs-studio a bigger joke than Nvidia for open-source

So i was tired (Still am) About the situation with obs-studio and my AMD gpu. So i asked an LLM, if it could come up with specific technical reasons and later asked it too add dates so we (the user) can see for how long theyve actually had the open-source data too fix all the problems. Fast TLDR (Too save eye-ball-time)

What NVIDIA Has That AMD Simply Doesn’t Offer in OBS

For completeness, here is a list of NVENC features available in OBS that have no functional AMD AMF equivalent:

The Timeline Nobody Wants to Talk About — AMD Went Open First, and OBS Still Didn’t Fix It

This is perhaps the most damning section of this entire document, and it is the one most conspicuously absent from every mainstream discussion of the AMD/OBS problem.

The common narrative is that AMD’s closed software ecosystem is the root of OBS’s AMD failures. That narrative is only partially true — and it becomes increasingly dishonest the more carefully you look at the dates.

This is the kind-of-work LLMs should be used for IMO. Always ask for dates after its research and add it too the document. Appreciate it, if you made it this far…

PRs welcome™

If there isn’t anyone interested in implementing it, noone’s doing it. That’s how open source works.

Besides that, one big reason all this sfuff is implemented on the nvidia side to begin with is because nvidia was actually collaborating. Meanwhile AMD has not and the current amf functionality was implemented by one dude in their free time.

Ask your LLM what “free time” means.

AMD can’t even decide whether or not they are deprecating their drivers.

Im pretty sure obs-studio wont even take patches, someone somewhere must have done some work on it. Maybe even done much more than that, but was never taken seriously, (By design) that my take on it at least.

Mesa should have had full acceleration years ago, yet dont even work a quarter as bad as the proprietary AMD driver. Mesa matured in approx. 4 years fully. Obs-studio has had anywhere between 9-12 years too mature.

Heck even simplescreenrecorder is better (if that still exists)

…??? Based on?

You realise on Linux OBS just supports VAAPI? Where AMD actually collaborates? And that doesn’t have any performance downsides compared to AMF?

Maybe get off your LLM bullshit and actually verify what any of it is spitting out.

Based on mesa development. Mesa takes longer too develop and is also more tran 10x as hard too develop for, even with documentation. Which obs-studio already has. What else would it be based on??

Idc. What it “just supports™. The GPU acceleration is not there. You cant play tripple A games fluently without hiccups even on VAAPI, at 4K or higher, so whats your point??

…??? The hell are you talking about. VAAPI is the GPU acceleration.

Yeah and AMD contributes to Mesa, that’s my whole point

Weird cause I do it every day.

Also:

This by the way is also another point towards straight up bullshit.
First of all VAAPI codecs don’t need “implementation” in OBS, that’s the entire point of VAAPI. And secondly:

And third:

This was the first time (check the date) AMD contributed anything AMF related to OBS for Linux and it has loads of issues.

VAAPI is a plugin for OBS, and it doesnt work proplerly. No more words from you thanks. Prove your points with actual videos. Ive seen enough of your wordings. Send a link with proof of VAAPI tripple A usage on amd hardware or go away with all your actual-nvidia-supporter stuff. If i have 15K render load with 40FPS proof, then surely you have proof aswell.

Uhm. No, it’s not.

I haven’t owned an nvidia card in 10 actually probably closer to 15 years but OK

That screenshot above is literally the 7700XT I got from L1.

Idc about your screenshots on level1missquoters. Most users here miss-quote and do all kind of stuff. Show video proof or get the hell out of my thread.

I don’t see how this was a misquote lol.
You said it’s a plugin for OBS, which it is not.

also “my thread” lol you realise you’re posting on a public forum?

idc what it is. Show proof or go away and dont reply again unless you have proof. Not interested in a debate with you or anyone. Interested in proof that so called LLM cant provide. So go do it, im waiting anxiously for your video-proof. Until then dont reply here.

Nah.

You haven’t shown any proof about any of your LLMs claims either.

lol check my youtube. If you need more proof than that channel. youre beyond help.

I’m not checking the channel of someone who can’t even do their own research.

Stop replying in my thread please, public or not. Your screenshot is beyond lame. And every semi-gnu user is dying hard of laughter of you.

:waving_hand:

That screenshot was not meant to excite anyone, it was to show that AV1 via VAAPI is indeed available, something that apparently you were not capable of checking on your own.

What does that even mean

How does any of this have to do with… anything, literally.

Also please list them?

Feel free to point out specifics, but I don’t see anything in what I said being untrue.

LLMs are a tool, but you are clearly not one to wield it.

You keep giving off personal attacks. TLDR needed asap. I have proof youre not willing. Im asking proof, youre not willing. So not much more to say, other than go away, until you have video proof. Or are you payed by obs-studio devs or something??

You call me retarded and I’m the one giving personal attacks? Hello?

This would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
