NZXT Phantom Power Button Not Working

Hey, I'm trying to build a PC and I've run into a problem. I'm pretty experienced in this and am positively stumped. I got a green light on the mobo, but the power button just won't turn it on. I have the 2 pin PWRSW set up how it shows in the manual, but it still won't turn on. The specs are:

  • GX 450w Cooler Master (Bronze)
  • EVGA GTX660
  • i7 2600
  • Asus P8Z77-V LK
  • NZXT Phanton 810 (The full tower)
  • 8gb 2400mhz g-skill
  • 2tb Seagate

No clue what it could be, will post pictures if anyone finds it needed.

Thanks, Nash.

Are the positive and negative wires on the right sides. Have you checked the cpu or socket for pin damage? Are all psu cables to motherboard connected correctly?

take the power button header off, bridge to 2 pins, (paper clip, case screw, whatever) if it turns on you have worn out/ broken, "shifted around and not touching" contacts in the switch, if it still doesn't turn on you have bigger problems, polarity does not matter on a simple push button switch

@tmlhalo, Yes, yes, and yes.

@overlordnick Will that caust damage?

it's just bypassing the switch to tell you if the switch doesn't work or if there's something else wrong

How would I go about taking the power button header off?

I just tried it directly on the motherboard (put a paperclip on the two power pins) and I didn't get it to start.

Since you have an ASUS mono I assume it supports USB BIOS Flashback. You can try flashing the newest BIOS.

When you tried it on the pins, did anything light up? Did the debug LED display anything?

Also, have you checked for bent pins?

It may be dead on arrival, happens sometimes. Try calling NZXT and see if you can get a replacement some cases allow you to do that.

The mother board might be dead.

My Asus board did that after a week so i used a screw driver (one with a rubber handle) to turn it on. So i had to rma it.

@IwinFTW No bent pins, checked that. No LED's or beeps either

@OddlyShapedTree I'll do that tomorrow morning probably.

@mewopppersnaggy How did you start it with a screw driver?

Find the two pins on the motherboard where the headers connect. Normally where the pwr sw goes on.

Get the srew driver and place it between the two and touch it. It should start and if it doesn't your motherboard is dead.

Oh and do it with a rubber handle screw driver or you'll electocute yourself.

fun fact, rubber grips are for comfort only and don't insulate against current passing from the blade to you body, i have experience

not that you could manage to electrocute yourself on that switch, probably 5 volts, 1 amp at the most

I just tried a manual start with a screwdriver. No luck. However, there is a green mobo light and if I flip the gpu and ecu switches the red light pops up. Could it still be not working?

Well so much for safety then.

The green mobo light I would assume means standby power is on. Find where the light is on the mobo and its label, and look it up in the manual. What do you mean by GPU and ECU switch?

I think it might be the motherboard, I feel like they have a higher failure rate than power buttons on cases. Unfortunately that is probably where you will have to start and see.

There's a ECU and GPU overclock switch. @IwinFTW

Alright, I'm going to call newegg. @OddleShapedTree
