NVMe SSD enclosure

I recently purchased a dell XPS 15 9560, I quite like it, but I’d like to upgrade the NVMe drive from the 512 drive that’s in it, to a 1TB drive. But I don’t want to sell the 512GB drive, and was thinking putting into an enclosure and using it portable storage would be fantastic.

Does anyone know of an enclosure that would work? All of the ones I’ve found so far only support SATA m.2 drives.

As far as I know there are currently no PCIe to USB converters in that sense, maybe Thunderbolt. Theoretically one of the eGPU enclosures could work, but I don’t know if they would from the driver side of things.

I found this:

but I haven’t found it in stock anywhere…

Mh, interesting, haven’t seen that one before.
But then again… at that price you could get 2 SATA SSDs if you just sold off that NVMe one

There’s a thread on the Linus forums asking about this. (https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/767242-thunderbolt-external-enclosure-for-nvme-ssd/)

Seems nobody was able to find one, unfortunately.
