NVME PCIE 5.0 Raid 0 c/w Syncthing Redundancy

Raid 0 :scream: … So last year I was buying up NVMe drives. I had 4x 9100 2tbs spare so I bought a Asus Hyper x gen 5 Card loaded it just for a laugh to see what numbers I could achieve with Raid 0 before listening to my sensible side and striping a Raid 5.

Pretty insane speeds  So I wiped it and and striped a Raid 5 thinking it wouldn’t be too far behind on performance but was shocked at the performance difference. i was getting 32GB/s read but only like 8GB/s write, obvs came on the forum and read loads of posts of the problems with Raid 5 and Parity. So thought how else I could have redundancy on a Raid 0 set up and found Syncthing that worked on Windows & Truenas. Slight reservations with the ‘Free’ tag but finding that Truenas use it on their Enterprise solutions calmed me, excellent bit of software. I have it set up on my Connect 4 100gbit nics to the Truenas get about 40-50 g/bit so the sync is pretty quick. They say nothing in life is free but props going out to TrueNas and Syncthing for bucking the trend.

What platform is this on? Are you on a desktop cpu? or xeon/threadripper workstation? Or server chip?
The last time I tried doing true nvme raid on windows was with VROC and the performance was… acceptable. but not stellar. ZFS blew it out of the water.

Win 11 for Workstations, Threadripper & Raid Expert 2…
Truenas on my old Threadripper
