Just curious I want to know owners of an older gpu of Nvidia how much they have gimped them cause I'm just curious right now of HOW MUCH they have gimped them.

GTX 780 owner here,
i personally couldn't observe any performance degredation in the games that i'm playing since i purchased my card.
i'm playing at 1440p on usually max settings in most games, some of the more recent titles don't run at constant 60fps at max settings anymore but that's largely due to the relatively small vram on the card (3GB)
It is an interesting phenomenon in nVidia world where they will artificially downgrade the features and performance of cards as time goes on for no valid reason.
Removal of CUDA transcoding features that instantly made cards without a hardware encoder/decoder useless for the job when just one driver update prior they were just as capable.
Stuff like the tessellation where even if the feature is set in stone the driver should allow you to.override the tessellation levels (like AMD) but they have left that out. Meaning trying to run hair works on a non 900 series card will not be fun.
The actual performance of the card usually stays intact but they cripple the cards on any non essential front possible. You know the stuff you paid for, all the extra features that made it worth it over another brand, those get removed and gimmped frequently.
It is not very noticeable either and it is usually a case of "wlWell I don't use that feature so what ever." As more and more of what you once had gets taken away. Non essential but underhanded for no good reason other than to sell more newer cards and keep.people upgrading as often as possible.
DX12 will be an example of this. It works good enough on Maxwell and that is fine as it works, but only enough. Now Pascal comes along and could be so much better, well now it would be silly to buy maxwell when it is only a little cheaper and is comparatively feature lacking. Usually not a direct downgrade but they chip away at functionality.
It is disgusting and people.keep paying to be treated this way so.let them.
