Hello! Apologies if i should be in another category with this post.
I have a NUC 12 Extreme (NUC12DDCMi9 ) without cpu, and I’d like to find out what my options are. The machine is sold with only one specific cpu (i9-12900) and there is no cpu support list available, and Asus has not gotten back to my support request. I’d love to find a budget cpu or even a later gen lga1700.
Using BIOSUtilities and MCExtractor to take a peek at what’s inside the latest uefi update, i’ve found a whole bunch of microcode entries, limited to these cpuids:
- 90672 - Alder Lake S (Golden Cove/Gracemont)
- 90675 - Alder Lake S (Golden Cove/Gracemont)
- B06F2 - Raptor Lake (Raptor Cove/Gracemont)
- B06F5 - Raptor Lake (Raptor Cove/Gracemont)
for a variety of platforms and revisions.
How the devil do i convert these to actual cpus? Digging though Intels documentation yields a ton of info, none of which i can’t seem to make sense of. Going through searches, gathering cpu database entries and so on, it seems like each cpuid cover several cpus, but also gives me a feeling that some of them are wrong.
If there are more options than looking at microcode, which honestly feels like a flimsy foundation for spending money on a cpu, I’m all ears.
Datasheets from intel suggests that there are some gen 12, 13 and possibly 14 cpus that could be usable. I’d post links but the forum does not allow me to.
