BACKGROUND im currently using windows 8.1 with updater off (because whatever) there is this thing that always concerns to me when i use ubuntu or mint or whatever (yeah, i tried already) is the fact that i need internet, im in a third world country, maybe even forth, because paypal and some other stuff doesnt even work here. in my windows i usually have all my installer for all my software i use ready to install with or without internet even my games [totally not pirate at all (i cant use money because the lack of access to paypal okay there no other way to get stuff over here)] im a digital illustrator and is usually work on krita (instead of photohsop) and blender3d so i have no problem to migrate to linux, but i always have to download those programs to use it everytime i try to ask for an offline way to store software peoples response will be something among the lines ''well you wont have an updated version'' or ''if you install the program why you need to store the installer?'' because i live in a cave!okay! internet isnt as fast or as good even for u.s. standards
QUESTION -so i guess my question is, is there a way to store my software installers?
-or even a way to create a package from my already installed stuff to store in case i want to reinstall my os or something?
-and why not, is there a way to get craked linux games ?
its really frustrating never finding an answer for this so i sound pretty angry, but im all ears, even if its to say that im full of shit and stuff btw im using a toaster with an i3, 8gb of ram and no graphic card, and i play skyrim, fallout3 and darksouls 1&2 i know it look sub console but it works on windows
If you want to download and store the packages for your distro as you need them use the download option with your package manager, though not sure why youd need to.
I dont even know what to say to this. cracked linux games? go buy them if they cost money.
The installers are saved in /var/cache/apt/archives the first time you download them to install, so if you want to save those installers, that's the place to back up. At least for Ubuntu and Mint anyway, other distros the location will vary depending on the package manager.
You can clone your entire drive onto another drive with the DD or clonezilla. You could also clone a repository from the internet and can use that. Package managers work just fine with local repositories. If the game you want is open source then no crack is necessary. Gold old games doesn't use DRM. If you can't buy it in your country you could torrent it. Can't steal something you can't buy.
there is krita on package manager so its again the same as the other programs, where can i find the installer? (i do need to installed multiple time... for reasons) none of those countries listed there are the one im in (but someone else already gave an option n.n thanks anyways) i will if only i could throw money at my monitor and somehow the money reach to the developers i dont have access to paypal in this country , im literaly living on a cave, i promised myself to buy all the games i already have for windows if i could do it just to support the developer. but i cant at the moment
thank you , ill sure try that n.n really appreciate it i will probably use ubuntu or mint again, ubuntu because is the most acknowledge by noods (thus it has some reasonable support for my level) and mint because is more windows like in some aspects
You can crack the games yourself. Nowadays games are either distributed DRM free (no cracking required, yay) or are on Steam.
If it's on Steam most of the time the games don't have any additional DRM schemes but rely on Steam. You can just re-implement libsteam_api.so and all those games will magically work without Steam.
If the game come with their own DRM scheme you'll have to do some reverse engineering and then patch the binary. You could actually distribute a program (launcher or whatever) which is patching an existing binary and it would be legal to distribute pretty much anywhere because you don't have to distribute the actual game.
If you don't want to do that, well… there already are cracked games for linux on some torrent trackers but they're copyright infringement.
