Noob problem with dual boot in ubuntu

So i have windows 7 as the first boot (ssd),second drive (mechanical) i have games and i did a partition with ubuntu but it goes right to windows do i take windows drive out do the grub thing in linux and then connect the drive back ?

And also as i'm an ignorant in linux is ubuntu the best to me take best advantage of my 970 games and video wise ?because i'm not going to be switching versions i just want one that is functional and has a             easy learning curve (system configuration wise) and then choose the one i what to work with .

You probably just need to set your BIOS or UEFI  to boot off whatever drive you installed GRUB on. Most likely, that's the mechanical drive with the Ubuntu partition on it.

Changing the boot mode to LEGACY in BIOS should do the trick

Thank you guys but i messed up ,i installed linux and then windows with the drive still connected and it fucked the grub from linux,i have to do it again don't i?

..."i have to do it again don't i?"

it's fairly painless.

thanks i thought i would have to re install everything

On the drivers side you do want to make sure you update to all point releases (non long term releases) for the most up to date drivers. You could install the driver directly from NVIDIA but unlike the Ubuntu package it won't be tuned for your system.

You probably only need to boot into a live environment and fix/reinstall GRUB from there. You likely DON'T need to reinstall. If you want a faster boot time, you might want to install GRUB to the SSD.

check my post/thread in the PC Gaming section. I posted a bunch of the Linux Games I played and enjoyed. Should do marvelously on your 970 and AMD.

Thank's you where very helpful , not only i resolved the problem , i learned a little bit more and for that i'm grateful ,those games look awesome linuxmaster9 , for me assassins creed was the last drop for me aaa wise.

I put ubuntu on a usb drive and I ran it off the usb uninstalled, then installed it and partitioned from the install in ubuntu. if that make sense.

If you want to run Linux on an SSD, there are a couple things you will need to do to make it work right.
