Newegg shipped my 1.5TB Optane in bubble wrap along with two meal prep coupons

This so bizarre to me, I had to share. Newegg sent me the standard carton that Intel ships their storage in, but they didn’t include a u.2 to m.2 adapter I was expecting. I can’t plug it without buying a cable separately for $30. On top of that, It wasn’t shipped in a box, they just bubble wrapped it. Then there’s the meal prep coupons? I honestly don’t know what to think. I bought it directly from newegg. Is that standard? I mean it’s newegg I know, but still. Isn’t it weird to ship an enterprise drive like that. I bet if I were to plug it in, it would show signs of use.

So keep in mind that the 1.5TB versions of the 905P don’t include the u.2 adapter. What a shame, I was really looking forward to using it in my Unraid server.

Did you open the shell already? Because the silver tamper patches seem to indicate it already has

Both 960GB Optane 905P drives that I bought from Newegg about a year apart came in full retail packaging, including the NVME to U.2 adapter.

Not that this helps you, but yours was not my experience

For me, all the Intel Optane P1600Xs from Newegg have come like (minus the coupons).

If you look at the listing it specifies adapter on the 960 not 1.5 tho
