I bought another Asus VS248H-P, receiving it yesterday. I already have a VG248QE and one other VS248H-P, when I plugged it in to test it, I noticed the screen had a sort of yellow tint to it, very noticeable on the whites, they did not pop as much as my other monitors due to the odd tint.
Could this be because the monitor needs to be broken in through use or should I RMA it now haha?
I've never in my 20 years or so as a system builder have ever encountered a monitor that needed to be "broken in" if the display is erratic from the start its not going to get any better. Its probably defective.
Ok thanks. Its actually not that bad so I dont think I will be requesting an RMA.
It could possibly just need a color adjustment or something through the settings. Maybe you can play around with it and get it to look right. Maybe reseat the cables, perhaps one of them is loose or something.
Tryed Windows calibration, no luck, matched setting to my other VS248H-P, no luck. It really isnt bad, but tis just enough that you are able to notice it.
I would personally RMA it.
monitors should not have to be broken in atleast i don't think. This strikes me as defective.
If it has a yellow tint that means that the blue in the rgb spectrum is bad. Are you using VGA?
The reason is ask is because I have a 240GT with a bad red on the vga port on the card. in other words when i connect a vga display up to it it will not show the color red at all. giving everything a very washed out dark blue and green look.
I'd double check the setting on the monitor its self before RMAing it. When I got my new ips monitor I noticed the colours were slightly off and it turned out to be set to "game" mode and had power saving enabled which was auto adjusting the brightness which also screwed with the colours.
If everything is set properly then send it back.
If its only slightly noticeable it might be because of various other reasons and perhaps its not defective. Especially if there was time between when you bought the separate panels. The manufacturing process could have changed slightly or perhaps they changed production facilities entirely. Either way there could have been something that happened that just slightly changed the way the panel displays even though technically its the same monitor. I don't often do multiple monitors, but when I do I tend to order all the panels I need of the same type at the same time. Reduces the chance of an issues like slightly off color monitors.
Or it could be defective who knows.
Nope DVI-D with a cable I know works.
that rules out analog vga rgb.
I'm really think it's defective now.
The one I just got was made in Sept. 2013, the other was in Sept 2012. I think that might be it, because the stickers that tell me those dates are different. I'm keeping it, aint worth an RMA, I was just curious if I could fix it.
How yellow is it? I'm just curious.
Can you post a picture?
Its not terrible it sort of looks like someone applies a bit of ummm sepia I tihnk is the proper term for it. A pciture it a bit difficult for me to get, and I can't be bothered haha. ;)
Could it be back light bleed?
I once had a yellow tint on my main monitor. The problem was that the VGA cable was not properly plugged in. Once I pressed it firmly in place, it was fine. Check the cable and try with another one if nothing works.
OP' cable is DVI. I don't think it's possible because it's digital and not analog.
I have nearly resolved the issue, in CCC I adjusted the color temperature and it looks as close as its going to get to the other monitors I have, its hardly noticeable now.
Thanks everyone that suggested something.
