New GPU and CPU!

Currently I have a AMD 8350 and a Evga GTX 670 ftw. But I am thinking of switching to Intel and getting the 4770k and buying a Evga SC GTX 780 with acx cooling. Would it be worth it?

So far I am just gaming atm, but I really want to get into video editing.

You'll need to swap your mobo aswell if your going from amd to intel...

I know. I'm just asking to see if it's worth it to switch or just get a 3770k

What would you be using to edit?

Just Sony Pro and Photoshop, maybe Adobe after effects.

But I was wondering if I got to the 4770k, will cpu intensive games like PS2 have better preformance.

Between a 3770K and the 4770K, a little bit but not by much... maybe 1-2 FPS. Between the AMD 8350 and the 4770K, yeah; there will be a fairly noticeable difference, in terms of performance the 8350 is about a 3570K generally.

Now if you're playing Planetside 2, get yourself an Intel chip, 3770 or 4770, heck even the 3570... Planetside 2 HATES AMD chips, I like AMD because you generally get a good bang for your buck for gaming but I've got a Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.6 GHz and Planetside 2 just murders it...

I'm told the FX Series Vishera-Piledriver CPU's are better and you might be able to help me by letting me know how PS2 runs on the 8350 because when I have some adequate cash I'll have to upgrade; but if you're going to upgrade for Planetside 2 then I can tell you that you will be much happier with any i5 or i7 Intel CPU until SOE fixes the lack of optimization for AMD CPU's.

Might be considering about the 4770k, but I heard about heat issues so idk.

On PS2 its not bad as I have it paired with a EVGA gtx 670 ftw but I am going to go for the ACX 780, I'd be willing to sell you the 8350 and gigabyte 990fx ud3 board for 270$

I got a FX 6300 and a 650Ti, works fine in PS2...sure its not on ultra but its set at high settings at 1920x1200.

Swopping from an 8350 to a 4770k is probably going to gain you some performance sure, not worth it tho imo.

Think ahead to future games, they are all going to be optimised for multi thread CPU's, a survey from eurogamer asked heads of game developer departments what chip theyd reccomend getting for furture games and they all said the 8350.

Its your cash at the end of the day and i wish i had that much to spend :P but going from an 8350 to a 4770k is frankly an upgrade not worth the money.

For video editing etc, the 4770k is faster yes but spend the money on two SSD drives (one to work from and one to write too) and that will give you a better speed boost than the difference between the two chips.
