New 43" Dell 4k monitor P4317Q *DROOLS*

Dell has finally jumped onto the big screen bandwagon that the koreans have been doing for the past year or so, how will the monitor fare?

Iirc it has an 8ms gtg, and most likely wont have really good color reproduction like their Ultrasharp series.

I too am looking for a monitor upgrade, still deciding between the Dell U3415W or a 4k 40" korean / philips one...

Maybe Wendell can grab a review unit of this and see whether Dell has made a good 40", personally I like Dell's no questions asked warranty and customer service.

Monitor looks stunning, love the XPS too, Dell monitors are fantastic, love the semi matt coating they do, best I have ever used.

Calculates to 102.46 ppi. Slightly higher than 23 inch 1080p and lower than 27 inch 1440p.

Would rather have 2x 27 inch or a proper tv.

Burn in issues are already being reported by owners after only using the monitor for a short time.

Hey, some time ago I returned the WASABI MANGO UHD400 and contacted Dell if the burn in issues are still present or a new revision was released. They in fact confirmed a new version of this monitor was out.

I ordered the P4317Q and received it about 6 weeks later. I have been using it for about two weeks now and it is exactly what i wanted the whole time!

  • Its pretty much the U2414H in 4k and bigger except for the pixels at the border (see below)

  • No eye strain, the UHD400 gave me awful headaches (but this might be related to the different Hz from Korea to Germany of the power grid)

  • Overall good build quality
  • No backlight problems (Drawback: Pixels are hard to read at the frame/edges of the monitor)
  • No reflections! The screen is matte. I think its currently the only 4k >38 inches that does not reflect/is glossy.
  • I dont play fast paced FPS anymore and I dont think this monitor would be good for those but its ok for RTS or other non-fast paced games

You can read here about the problems with the UHD400: https://forum.teksyndicate.com/t/wasabi-mango-uhd400-40-4k-va/97442/161?u=rndnme

The two images show a 0° angle and a ~45° angle to the edge of the monitor. You can see the amount of pixels that are no longer visible. For me this is mostly not a problem. The edges of the monitor are kinda far away anyways. I only have information parked that I dont often need. On the third image you can see that i use the middle part of the monitor as my main-area and the edges only for exporer/music stuff; things I dont touch that often.

Overall this monitor is exactly what I was looking for and fits exactly my needs (mostly text/programming related). The 4k allows to have 4 source files open at the same time for comparison and validation \o/

If only it had freesync I would get it. It's a shame they couldn't just add it in.
