New $1200/£800 Build Help?

Hey People I'm coming over from console gaming since the Xbox One and PS4 don't appeal to me. So I was wondering if you could help me build a good gaming PC. You wont need to include the Operating system as I get OS's free from my college. :)

Do you need peripherals, if so which? Preferences of AMD or Intel and AMD or nVidia? Do you plan on overclocking? Planning on xFire/sli? Need an SSD or not?

I've got a Keyboard, mouse and monitor and I don't plan on overclocking and Maybe xFire/Sli, SSD maybe
