Does anyone know if there is an easy way to download the drivers for the RTL 8126 NIC to use in proxmox? I have an MSI z890 board with the NIC and I don’t know how to get it to appear? I figured it was a driver issue but couldn’t figure out a way to download the drivers?
Any help would be appreciated I’m new to this home lab type of stuff
There is a comment about that might help you, I am going to quote it for the record but do check what those commands do. So the normal “I saw this and this might help, but that I have not verified what these commands do” and the command maxim of “don’t just copy random commands from the internet”.

What the world wants to know is: Does it work out of the box with Proxmox?

@Kingneutron
Not out-of-the-box, at least in latest 6.8.x kernels in Proxmox 8. There are some incompatibilities, but disabling power management features via kernel cmdline makes it work:
r8126.aspm=0 r8126.eee_enable=0 pcie_aspm=off

Note that this information is based on what I was able to find in my quick search on the internet. Most of the sources that I was able to find came to the conculsion that drivers are in the linux 6.4 kernel but not in the older versions.
Maybe try to kernel 6.4 distribution and see if the nic works on that?
Thanks I’m new to all this and using the Linux kernel and drivers is kind of confusing. I’m currently using Proxmox 8.3 which I think is built on kernel 6.11. So I figured the drivers would be in there but it unfortunately still didn’t work. Is there a way in proxmox to easily download the drivers directly from Realtek?
