Need Help With Skyrim Mods (Noob Moder)

So I have been watching Logan's Skyrim mod list and sort of learned how to use them with some YouTube videos by Gopher, although I seem to be doing something wrong. I have a MSI GS70 laptop with i74700 + gtx765m + 16Gb memory, so I know I can run I few mods. By the way I do have SKSE.

I got NMM and created an account with them, then watched a few videos to make sure I knew at least a little bit what I was doing. It started off pretty good; I got a few things working like jump while sprint and stealth kill mods, but then I tried to do ENB and textures and it started getting a little weird. The game would crash after the opening for Bethesda, so in my noob frantic "I killed the game" state of mind I canceled all the mods. It then worked but came up with these statements while opening the game:

"(Copyright info)

Current video adapter: Intel(R) HD graphics 4600" (But I have a GTX 765m)

I started to apply all the mods that would allow me to still play the game (no textures), but when I click continue I get the following message:

"This save relies on content that is no longer present. Some objects may no longer be available. Continue loading? Yes or No."

I can then play, but non of the mods I have running are there. Whats more, I got this message in the top left of the screen: Errer bFloatPoinRenderTarget=1 is not set in SkyrimPrefs.ini or you have several copies of this file."

I don't have two copies of whatever that is. But when I recycle the files that an ENB mod had me get (enbhost.exe, d3d9.dll) I don't get any messages except for the one regarding the saved game. Although at this point I don't have my mods. Anybody know what I did and how I can fix it?

ENB mods should be done first. In my experience I have had the most problems getting them to work. When the game says that the content is no longer present, Its because you uninstalled a mod that added something to the game whether textures or new content like a follower. As for the error message look for your SkyrimPrefs.ini file. Its probably located in My Documents>My Games>Skyrim, or at least thats where I saved mine. You'll find your bFloatPointRenderTarget in there. As far as your ENB install all the files first as required and make sure the game simply works(new game). Gopher has a video on installing ENB. Your saved game is probably no longer valid but the error message simply means something was removed. Your other option is to use other mods that dont rely on ENB and just play like normal. Also anyone who has experience in modding skyrim will tell you to only install one mod at a time and test your game. Unfortunately my game always tests stable until a couple hours down the road when I get random CTD's so it can be very hard to pinpoint mods that dont work properly. Using Boss helps so that you can see if mods will conflict(at least at startup) and TES5edit is nice to test how the game will start and if there will be any errors when loading the game.

Hi,

First of welcome to modding and the hassle it can come along with.

Like Digit6 said "This save relies on content that is no longer present. Some objects may no longer be available. Continue loading? Yes or No." means missing mod files mainly that a .ESP file is no longer present. The trouble with modding Skyrim is that generally save games don't like it when you change mods mid game.

@ the 'random' crashes this is most likely due to the ram usage problem that Skyrim has Gopher has a great vid on that It's a long one...

also on getting started check his website www.gophersvids.com/

What I would suggest is basically baby steps, get used to how the hole modding thing works and don't just trough all in at once it takes time to get your way around I wouldn't call myself anything close to an expert and I have been doing this for about 2 years now...

get acquainted with either  NMM or the Mod Organizer I'd recommend the later since it's more powerful and keeps your skyrim data folder clean and you don't have to overwrite anything. Mark Hollis has some tutorials on MO

And of cause the Nexus Forums people there are friendly and can help with pretty much anything.

Anyway hope this helped and have fun modding!

Thanks for the help!
