Need help building a gaming pc for under $800

So let's cut to the chase, I had someone here help me put together a AMD based build but after shipping and all that good stuff, the price went well over $900. So what I need help with is, my friend wants to buy a PC and he refuses to go over $800, usually this wouldn't be a problem but EVERYTHING in Canada is so expensive and I want him to have a decent build. This PC will only be used for gaming, I don't care if it's Intel or AMD based. If you can please keep mail-in rebates out of this. Thanks in advance!

Hmm...shipping included. Wow, I never realized how expensive stuff was in canada. Try an amd athlon x4 750k, msi fm2 a55m e33 mobo, crucial ballistix sport 8gb, CM haf 912, cx500 psu. All that comes to about 420 CDN$. The graphics card is completely up to you. A 7870 can be as low as 210 but I would try to get an r9 280x. The sapphire version of that card is 375 right now. With shipping and tax that should be fine under 800 dollars. For gaming the 7870 will do fine for the next 2 or 3 years but I highly recommend getting the r9 280x. The r9 would be over budget.

It has to be Canadian. If it were american then I would second your parts decision. The fx 6300 in Canada is 150 dollars.

If you do go with this. consider getting an fm2+ board as it will support the new CPUs that come out soon. Just saying

What do you guys think of the Asus A88XM-A Micro ATX board? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-a88xma

So this is what I have come up with, let me know what you think but I just managed to squeeze all this under $800.

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K

Motherboard: Asus A88XM-A Micro ATX

Memory: Patriot Viper Xtreme Series Division 8GB DDR3 1600

Storage: WD Caviar Blue 1TB

GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7850 2GB (Twin Frozr)

Case: Corsair 200R

PSU: Corsair CX500M

Optical drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit

All that comes up to $779 with taxes and shipping. Thanks for all the help!

Hi Shammy,

Hm, somehow it looks like the prices have gone up... http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1Uohl this was the original Build i did...it's now over 800...

But i think i can do something about that... ;) BRB :D

EDIT:

Well, here we go: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1VfEd 784, a bit more expensive then what you've picked, but the 7870 has quite a lot more power then the 7850...

I think i left out all Mail-In rebates, if i didn't - how can i turn that off?

Honestly - you canadians have my deepest sympathys...shipping is absolutely insane!

 EDIT 2:

I'm not sure if this is going to Work but i tried to put that stuff together only at Newegg (In germany shipping is a lot cheaper if you get all from one dealer): http://xps2pdf.co.uk/7c231237726a039f10c93a9e46959d9cdbc013e1/PC.pdf

If this is not working...i'll have to upload the PDF somewhere^^

The link isn't working and my own pc would be a lot cheaper than $2000 but what the hell I gotta deal with it. I could add a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz edition to the build and the price would be about $820 if my math is correct. I appreciate the help so far and I will talk to my friend and see if can spare that extra 20-25 dollars.

asus is great, every board...all of them...period.... JK no thats a great board from what ive heard.

Lmao alright you scared the shit out of me for a second

Damnit, i don't know what happend this time - it looks like, PCPartpicker isn't using actual prices. Because if you look at Newegg, it doesn't come close to 800!

Anyway, i didn't put in Newegg as Filter at PCPartpicker...and the Prices are all over the Place...

I hope this is working: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1Vxc9 750 Ca$

I also hope, that 25$ shipping is all...

i made this: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1VxP7

unfortunatly its   $840, but in therms of gaming performance its absolutly worth it.  i did not select an aftermarket cpu cooler or SSD, because those parts can be added later on.

or this option2 for under $800: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1VxW2

This option 2 is also a very sollid option included an aftermarket cpu cooler. and it fits his $800 budget

Grtz Angel ☺

7970 is cheaper so why not. there is also a xfx 7970 that's really cheap. 7950 is also good but 7970 for that price is better. i prefer having the fx 8350 or a cooler 25$. but you save 50$ if you go 7970 and same performance

I would love to go for the 7970 but if I do the price of the whole build would go past $900, he settled for $850 but thats the max he'll go. Thanks for the suggestion though (:

That's a great build too and yea the prices on the websites are weird, I checked all of the websites just to be sure of prices. I'll probably go with the list you made cuz you have the better cpu and a ATX board instead of Micro ATX which is good if he ever wants to add another GPU. Thanks for all the help, I didn't think people would be that helpful on here :p

Just checked out that Antec case you added, its not actually going for 19.99 its 49.99, but its still cheaper than the 200R and comes with an extra fan.

Was also thinking of changing the PSU for something a little cheaper and with a bit more power, any suggestions?

Alright so the total comes up to $833 for all that and that is after checking out all the websites for the better deals, I had to change the RAM because its discontinued, I added the G.Skill ripjaws X Series. Turns out he wont be able to get this pc for a month or two, so I guess I'll stick with your build and if prices drop he can buy it then. Thanks for all the help!

oh sorry,  the build of angel was 840 so i droped 30$ with same performance so 900$? how?

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10600kr

go with the 840 doller build of angel. ( ur the best)

and go with the 7970 to save 30$ and go with this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10600kr to save another 10$

So I added the 7970 to it and priced everything including taxes and shipping and the build comes up to 1005.38$
