I'm still trying to decide if I want the 4770K or the 4930K. I would like the 2 extra cores in the 4930 but I don't know if the price justifies getting it. I do a lot of video editing and rendering but not professionally, more of a hobby. Also the two motherboards are the ASUS Maximus VI extreme for the 1150 or the ASUS Rampage IV extreme for the 2011. Both are a bit pricey, I guess what I am trying to ask is are they worth it or does Gigabyte, MSI or ASUS provide cheaper boards that do more. I really want the 3 way SLI feature and a board that can overclock either of the processors. Thanks in advance.
i7 4770K is still a pretty strong CPU. I think it should be good enough for video editing. Of course, the 6 core i7 will always be faster.

I would go with the 4770K and the ROG HERO, has less expansion slots than the other ROGs but aside from that it is a great motherboard. Also not as expensive as the others. You will only be able to run two cards at a decent speed though :/
Is the ROG hero similar with less PCI slots?
Is it safe to say that getting a six core will somewhat future proof my PC or will nothing ever utilize the two extra cores?
Yep but again, I wouldn't run three cards on it, not enough bandwidth. Perfectly fine if you're running two cards though.
