Need a motherboard

As the title states,I'm currently looking for a 970 or 990FX motherboard. I plan on overclocking my current FX-8350 to as far as my thermal limits will take me, currently I'm debating on the Sabertooth or a 970 Motherboard (Don't know which one yet.)

Can anyone give my any other suggestions,or should I go with the sabertooth?

Note: I'm buying this at Microcenter,I could get $50 off most of the AM3+ motherboards.

Thank you in advance!

If you're looking to overclock, then you can't go wrong with the Sabertooth board. The only boards I would recommend over the sabertooth are going to be Crosshair boards.

Would it be worth the $135 though,or should I go with a 970 board for roughly ~$30-$50 ($50 combo deal.)?

go asus

asus love you long time

personaly all of my builds use sabertooth becouse it really does give you a good value

So than put in the extra ~$60,or should I get a 970 board and put the ~$70+ on other stuff?

(I plan on doing some gaming and other stuff.)

It depends on what your total budget is, but the Sabertooth is going to give you more features and better expandability since it's a 990FX board. Not to mention that you should get better overclocks out of it because of the power delivery design.

Diddo on the Sabertooth. No going wrong with that motherboard

If i could get a sabertooth for under 150$ I wouldn't think twice. Due to budget I went M5A97 R2.0 which serves me well, but the SABERTOOTH would be my #1 short of the Pricey Crosshair boards as mentioned.

Well, with the discounts I could get the Sabertooth for $135,and a crosshair for around$150 but, wouldn't it be better if I got a 970 board and spend the extra money elsewhere,I mean,I don't plan on SLI or Crossfire or anything like that anytime soon.

the sabbertooth is a great board, but it depends what you want to use as gpu setup.

if you only gonne use a single good gpu card, and never gonne use a sli setup, then you can also save ya some money and go for a 970 board.

the Asus M5A97 evo rev 2.0, has the same fuetures then a  M5A99FX pro 2.0 only diffrence is sli support.

the sabbertooth is a good board, but it has the same bios as the M5A97 evo and the MA99fx pro.

so if you gonne use a single graffic card, then better go for a M5A97 evo 2.0

i dont know all the fuetures of the sabbertooth but the M5A97 evo hass  6 sata 3 ports  2 e sata 3 ports , 2 usb 3.0 ports on the back 1 usb 3.0  header for 2 usb 3.0 front ports,8 usb 2.0 ports and 3 usb 2.0 frond headers, that make it possible to 6 fron usb ports. 7.1 sound chip 1 gb lan  1 pcie x16 2.0 slot  and one pcie x 8 slot 2 pcie 1.1 slots, and 2 normal pci slots

Indeed,I plan on using a single good GPU for a while (probably never going to Crossfire/SLI,) with that being said, should I get the Asus M5A97 or should I get an ASRock 970 Extreme 3?

If your planning on oc'ing the latest and greatest processor, get the newest platform motherboard. You'll get stabler, faster, higher overclocks on a 990fx mobo than you would on a 970. Also, the Sabertooth is a solid choice. Long history of solid performance backed by Asus

can you explain me why a 990 fx chipset is better for overclocking, if it has the same bios and the same  possibility´s on oc settings then  the M5A97 ?

sp far as i know is the only diffrence  the sli and crosfire  support by the 990fx chipset, the rest is practicaly the same.

choise Asrock vs Asus , i would say Asus :) but thats just a feeling,  amd or intel boards, i allways look for Asus or Msi cause i have the best experiance with it.

the sabbertooth will be offcourse the best choise, hast the most fuetures, cause of sli and crosfire support. but to me if you gonne use a single gpu setup, its a useless fueture.

and i don´t believe, that the sabbertooth wil be better overclocking, cause the bios is  the same :)

It's not that the 990fx chipset is better for overclocking, it's that the 990fx boards have better features than the 970 boards, namely the VRMs are better on the 990fx boards which allow you to overclock higher and not worry about throttling.

My preference would be for the new ASRock Extreme9 board that just came out, it is a beast.

I'm very confused as of what to get now,I know that the sabertooth is a really good board, but is it worth buying that and lacking on other parts,or should i get something like a 970 Extreme 3 or an Asus M5A97 and have an extra $20~$30 to spend on other stuff?

If you are going to overclock you need the power not the chipset m5a97r2.0=4+2, 990=6+2+2,saber=8+2, I found out after I bought the 970, its ok but over 4.2mgh i need more juice. So now ya know
