Need a good SFTP client for macOS

I am looking for a good SFTP client for macOS as I have found both FileZilla and CyberDuck unsatisfactory. On my Windows I mainly use WinSCP. To me it is the best of both worlds but it doesn’t exist on macOS so here we are.

My issues with FileZilla:

  • The UX is bad.
  • Upload speeds are very slow for single files (On the same server and same internet, uploading using Cyberduck is ~10x faster than FileZilla)

My issues with Cyberduck:

  • Doesn’t support multiple tabs
  • Won’t automatically transfer multiple files of a folder in parallel (this feature helps significantly with throughput when internet conditions aren’t ideal)

I had similar issues with FileZilla and CyberDuck on macOS. I ended up switching to Transmit, and it’s been a much smoother experience for SFTP.

+1 for Transmit.

Transmit looks promising but ideally I would like something that is free.

I guess Commander One might be worth considering. It supports SFTP connections, has a clean and efficient UI, and offers features like multiple tabs for better file management. Additionally, it can handle simultaneous transfers, which should address your performance concerns. While it’s not free, it’s a strong choice for those who prioritize usability and speed.
