i am a serious noob at pc stuff at the moment and i could use some serious help to save my data
Should i use something simple as imaging tools on windows or something a bit more hardcore like dd rescue on linux? jbtw i have zero experience with linux and my data is really important help me
A few relocated sectors are not a big deal. It means that the HDD found a problem with a sector and data was moved successfully to a spare sector. Uncorrectable or Pending sectors are the ones to worry about because those mean data was probably lost/corrupted.
Is it a few sectors or a lot? Just a few is often down to old age.
Your data should be fine, your hard drive is protecting it by blocking off some bad sectors. If youโre super paranoid, just copy it to a new drive; no complicated recovery necessary.
