Okay, simple problem, hoping there is a simple solution, since I am fairly new to Linux.
I'm on Linux Mint, and downloaded the Open Beta. or so i thought - i keep getting the following error:
'This version of Steam is currently in closed beta. Login with an enrolled account to continue.'
I thought this was an error for people on the closed beta, not the open. The logo still has the yellow lines on it (as opposed to the usual grey/black logo) so if it is just the wrong version, please link me to the right place? I have spent ages looking around, and i was pretty certain i had the right download.
Nothing was working properly under Wine, but Team Fortress 2 was fine on this proper version.
A bit laggy, as i have no graphics card (worked fine on low graphics under Windows) but that must just be an optimisation problem with the game, as it was my understanding that Linux is much lighter than Windows 7, so games should run even better...?
why use wine wen now steam run natively on linux? you should not emulate any game now and play them as they are ment to be. I will re-test with ubuntu again and give my thoughs of it since its been over a month since I try it and updates could have happen to improve my experience D:
