My new Planck Keyboard

Hey guys!

I got all my parts for my 40% Planck Keyboard!!

My daily driver my white led K95 is amazing but leds keep dying out and I wanted something new while also being a project.

For this keyboard I wanted to try out those Gateron Switches, I went for clears buying 120 of them for future things and in case there was a dud or two, which there was. Now I built the 47 key version where there is 46 1u keys and 1 2u spacebar. I added 3mm blacklight leds to give it a special look which with the Gateron switches being clear really popped!

I have on order a set of custom Keycaps but they won't be arriving for some time sadly so I "borrowed" keys from my K95 to start using it right away so I could get over that hurtle which is going from a full keyboard down to a 40%.

Below are all the pictures I could find.

Way cool. I have been wanting to do this for ages but just cannot afford it. Glad some round here did. I also want to use gaterons, but super heavy linear ones. Are those the 35g linear clears or the cherry style ~65g tactile clears.

What a change too, from the uber humgous k95 down to a 40%. I only went down to TKL but it is one I had wanted as endgame from the beginning, Filco MJ2 Ninja.

As for you k95, you could try out an LED SIP socket mod for when the LEDs die. No desoldering just plug and replace.

This is rad as shit...though, I don't think I could ever use a keyboard that small. Even my tiny half-keyboard seemed too condensed for me, and it have about 20 more keys than this tiny thing.

They're the 35g clears. And yeah I put SIPS in the Planck and might do same with K95. I need to contact Corsair about my 2 year warranty first to see if I can get free work or if I'm going to dig into it. The Planck drop on Massdrop was neat and good but I wanted to build my own!

It was I think ~$88 for the PCB the top & bottom plates with the brass plate spacers.
The shipping was included I think but I spent $35 on the 120 switches and I bought a new soldering iron because I burnt out my other one. :D

Also you can avoid the PCB and use a teensy controller to build this also but I've used that and wanted to try out the PCB.

I only wish the PCB had a Type-C connector just because its so hard to find Micro Usb cords in stores. Luckily I had some extras laying around from old cameras and ps3 controller charging.

I want to daily it but I dont fully know if I can or not yet. While I can modify the key map for my uses I just think its a great addon at the moment. Since to modify key to get to keys I use so often can get old.

Also with an arduino bluetooth kit this thing would be perfect for a Surface Pro whatever and shit like that.

I think money well spent no matter what for the use aspect and the project aspect of this amazing thing.

There were pictures and videos of the Planck's builder on reddit showing Bluetooth additions to the Planck. That us a terrible sentence but hope fully you get it.
