My first build. Thoughts?

Evening Tek forum posters! I already got a second opinion around here, but I wanted to know in a thread of my own about what you think of my first gaming PC build. I chose these parts by recommendations and research, and I think it turned out pretty solid~

Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz w/ 6MB cache- $230

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Dual Channel- $65

Hard Drive: Seagate 1.5TB Barracuda SATA III w/ 64MB cache- $80

DVD: LG SuperMulti 24x DVD Writer, SATA- $20

Graphics Card: MSI GeForce GTX 660TI OC 2GB- $300

Power Supply: Corsair CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE- $60

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V w/ Dual DDR3 1600, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, WiFi, SLI/3-way CrossFireX- $135

Case: Cool Master 690 2 Advanced- $90

Total: $975-1000

Thoughts? Recommendations? I won't be getting this computer for a few months, so I'm always open to suggestions to improve the build! (Although, this is about the budget I'm looking at)

Looks like a soild gaming tower. The only suggestion I would make is that, if you want to save up another $50-$100 I would get a 670; however, that being said 660TI OC can be OC'ed to perform like a 670.

Great Rig

The only suggestion I have is try to find a cheaper opticle drive.

I actually lowered the power supply from 750W to 600W to save some money (making my plans for SLI related stuff to wait until the future years) and found the mother board for $50 less than what I was expecting on Newegg, so I managed to afford the 660TI only because of that XD

Glad it turned out like a good build, thanks :3

For your budget, getting a 7970 or 670/680 is definitely doable. I'll post a build later

I still need to pay money to get Windows 7 for the thing as well, plus I gotta buy a monitor for it, so my budget is stretched XD I am interested in seeing this build though :3

I think it's still pretty doable if your budget is $1000

Wasn't sure if the monitor and OS was part of the $975-1000 budget, but I'm assuming it's not

Radeon 7970 Build

GTX 680 2GB Build

GTX 670 4 GB Build

I already see an issue here, 2 and 4 GB of ram. That probably won't be enough for my build, especially for gaming purposes and resource heavy applications. 8GB is unfortunately my minimum, and that'd shoot up the price a little higher. Good builds though, I'll look over them in greater detail! Thank you :3

Hmm, what do you mean. I'd put 8GB of ram there. They are in a 2x4GB dual-channel kit. Meaning there are 2 sticks of 4GB ram, which makes 8GB

Whoops o.o Your links made it say 2GB and 4GB,  and I only had time to quick breeze through it and didn't notice the lists themselves had 8GB. My bad ^.^;;

After looking at the builds, I kinda don't see why I'd need a $400+ graphics card o.o I think the 660TI will do just fine, it should handle Ultra, or High at least, which will look amazing anyways~ Thanks for the lists though :3

No problem. If you happen to change your mind, the builds are just here
