Moving TrueNAS OS to new Machine - cannot move SSD with OS - transfer?

Anyone know of a way in which I can transfer the OS for TrueNAS to a different drive?

I am moving from a self-built home PC using various techniques to accommodate an ever growing number of disks to a HP ProLiant Gen9 server with 12x 3.5" HDD bays.

I realised when it arrived that there is no way to plug in the SSD as the OS…it simply has no headers for this that I can see on the motherboard that aren’t being utilised.

Manual is here: https://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1035799365.pdf

I think you can run TrueNAS from a USB, and there are USB available, but that isn’t really something I wanted to do long-term and I wasn’t sure how I would transfer the existing OS to a USB either…

Anyone have any good tips for doing this, I can’t imagine I am the first.

You don’t. Export your config on the old TrueNAS box. Install TrueNAS on the new box and import your config file during setup.
