Motherboards with sensible IOMMU groups

Motherboard recommendations for Looking Glass builds. Namely boards whose IOMMU groups are sensibly isolated, and don’t need patching.

I think I’ve seen such a list somewhere on the internet but cannot find it anymore. Feel free to link such resources here, if you do.

Personally I’m looking for an ATX board with AM5 socket, but please share any boards known to work well!

For AM5 the proart b650 is IMO best. But here is a big thread with a lot of info:

Ohh there’s https://iommu.info/ nowadays. This seems nice!

Added my mobos to the growing list on iommu.info.

Thanks for sharing.

GIgabyte X570 Aorus Ultra. Just remember on AMD boards to “enable” IOMMU. Auto will not work

Hi @Iizuki, I followed the instructions on the webpage you linked, and this is the output I got inside my terminal.

/home/aaronkitchen/iommu_info_generate/generate_data.py:72: SyntaxWarning: invalid escape sequence '\['
  regex_id = re.compile("\[[\s\w]{4}\]")
request error: Bad Request
{"board":{"version":["This field may not be blank."]}}
please report this issue: https://github.com/mkoreneff/iommu_info_generate/issues/new/choose

No software is perfect. Did you report the issue as instructed?

Today I learned that my system has nearly 200 IOMMU groups!

Instead of using a bloated Python script, you might want to use the 8 liner bash script posted in the VFIO ArchWiki. The VFIO ArchWiki is considered the authority for setting VFIO.

@Iizuki, I did not report the issue as instructed. The reason I didn’t is that it seems to me the project is abandoned. Its creator hasn’t contributed anything to the project in over a year.

@Iizuki @Netboy3 I posted the error to see if anyone else got the same error, @Netboy3, thanks for the link to the VFIO ArchWiki.
