Hi still a little new to building my own computer and I have a question about a new motherboard. Im getting a 3rd gen I5-3570k and Im wanting a motherboard that supports 3-way SLI.
I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB and I see that it does support the 3-way sli with the 22nm processors. But when I read the specifications it says that when the pciex4 slot is being used that the pciex16 works as a pciex8 and the x8 works as a x4. Now Since its the new PCIE 3.0 would that translate those to haveing the same bandwidth as working in a x16 x8 x8?
Or would I need to get something like the MSI Z77A-GD65 that supports a 3-way sli and has the 3 PCIEx16 gen 3 or am I reading that wrong and all 3 wouldnt work in x16.
Last question I have is if I have a GTX 670 pcie 3.0 card and SLI it (for the physx) with a GTX 480 pcie 2.0 will both the 670 be downclocked to run at pcie 2.0 or would they be seperate in there bandwidth configuration.
Either board will work for me or any that you think would be better for my configuration. Im just not wanting to waste my money buying 1 than having to get another one down the road when I add on a third GPU. Any and all help would be greatly apperciated.
