I was using PCPartpicker to narrow down my choices for a monitor and i selected Freesync, freesync pro, etc.
This monitor came up:
It supports G-sync… can an monitor support both standards?
I went to the product page
Doesn’t say Free-sync anywhere.
soo i assume no free sync
My main question; can a monitor support both G & Free sync?

I’m pretty sure all freesync monitors support freesync on nvidia GPU’s, after some time nvidia updated their drivers to allow it. I may be wrong though since I haven’t bothered with either

My bad, I’m all AMD Linux
Its confusing as the underlying technology is called: Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).
The brand name for the nvidia implementation of VRR is G-Sync. Similarly for AMD it is called FreeSync.
There are some differences and levels, but for the most part it has been compatible between vendors. Though recently it got even more confusing to me .
If you were to get that monitor you list (which has nvidia g-sync support), it should work with an AMD video card that supports freesync.
I double checked it on AMD’s website and if you search for FV43U
it shows up as supporting FreeSync Premium Pro
.
I also have a 144hz monitor and enable gsync/freesync to prevent tearing when my FPS drops below that.
Hope that is more clear than mud, hah… Cheers!
Get yourself a Asus 27"OLED 160hz
It says “G-Sync Compatible” which, as far as I know, means it supports the lower standard which is used by Freesync aswell.
Anyway check this review to see if it supports Freesync or not: https://youtu.be/ebExpyLmjZg
