Monitor not showing native 1440x900

Hi all, new user here

My hanns g HW191D stopped showing the native resolution (1440x900), currently on my windows 7 the highest i can go is 1024x768, how do i get my native 1440 back? currently i'm using the dvi cable on my pc (xbox 360 for vga)

the monitor is showing as generic non-pnp instead of the manufacturers name on the device list

  • i installed the recent motherboard+graphics drivers.. that didn't work
  • i reinstalled fresh copy of windows.. that didn't work
  • i changed the dvi cable.. that didn't work
  • i added custom resolution option on my nvidia settings but that just zooms the monitor very badly

i think this happened while i was switching modes between xbox 360 and pc while xbox was booting a game up

this happened before but i cant remember how i fixed the problem, also.. it can't be the drivers since windows picked the monitor up when it was running fine. i looked around for EDID.. maybe that got corrupted communicating between the monitor and pc

note: i switched to vga cable on temp basis.. had 1440x900 showing up

So your monitor has a vga and dvi input that you switch between on using your monitors settings buttons?

yup

Alright so vga works but dvi doesnt... have you tried only having the dvi plugged in with the computer. Or just having the vga plugged in with the xbox run the xbox for a bit then turn it all off then plug dvi back in and switch. Just a bunch of variations could potentially fix it.... This does seem quite weird to happen though.

i did that earlier, still nothing

i also turned the monitor off for few seconds and turned it back on again while the pc was on

Apparently there is some sort of driver for it. I find that weird but maybe that will help. http://www.hannsg.com/PH/EN/Products/19%20Wide/Common.aspx?categoryID=121&productId=297

according to windows.. the current non-pnp is the updated driver 0_o

i'll order some new cables to see if they do the trick

right i got a new dvi cable and the the dvi side of the monitor still thinks the native screen is 1024x768

i did run both vga and dvi at the same time to the same graphic card, vga was fine still (1440x900), but dvi was 1024x768

Ferman.. thanks for trying to help but it looks like i can't do much now

What type of Video card are you using? With most of the software you can force a resolution even if the computer doesn't detect it. Also if you can't do it that way you can make and load your own monitor driver.
