Monitor is no longer 1080p...HELP

I've got an AMD Radeon R7 370 2gb in one of my rigs. I have it connected to a regular hanspree 1080p monitor I've used for many years on and off. For some reason it'll only display 1600x1200 max resi now. I've seen multiple people with the same complaints. I just turned it on and it was in 800x600 today. Then when I went to change it, it said 1600x1200 is the highest it can go. I'm quite sure it's not a GPU problem. I reinstalled all my drivers and messed with AMD software a bit with no success. I've been using this PC about 2 months now, this just happened today.

odds are the edid table on the monitor is corrupt.

^you can use this to make a driver to override it or create a custom resolution in the amd crimson advanced settings. (aka the ye olde CCC menu)

maybe size 4x3 rather than 9x10....imo
check in digital display modes, secondary panel in CCC.

It's running like shit on games too... is my gpu dead? yet its still running on the ports. Just seems possible I have a 430w psu powering an i7 16gb and a 370 . it also randomly shut off the other night lol. I have a 550w silver+ i could throw in. just lazy.. lol

if your using the latest drivers I suggest you go back to the last version that worked even the supposedly stable new releases have bugs. the best driver you can use is normally the one on the brand partiners(msi, sapphire, visiontek) website rather then the one direct from AMD.

not a driver issue

I would try to set it back to 1080p by making a custom resolution.

how do you work that shit i downloaded it

games are running like fucking ass shit swear words though like all cpu i swear i got like 20 fps on csgo. however my gpu fans are spinning. going to try reinstalling drivers, seems weird tho cause i just put the gpu in about a month ago. i feel it almost is a power thing but i feel an i7 and 370 can manage fine on a 430w psu, like i said i have others i could shove in though

Maybe the weird working monitor is making things go wrong in games. Do you have any other monitor to test the PC with? I think the 430W power supply is barely enough to run the system but, if you're not doing all syntetics of CPU and GPU at the same time, you shouldn't be worried of it catching fire. My UPS with my PC connected to it (i7 4790K, 8GB of RAM, R9 285 OC) says that during games (CPU in the 60% usage mark and GPU always 100%) that I'm using around 350W. So after all the math on efficiency has been done (I'm running off of 240V 50-60Hz current not 110V so efficiency is different) I think you're on the edge with that power supply and I would swap it as soon as I can if you game on that machine.

Welp, games run fine now. That was me fucking with AMD settings to try fixing it.
I do actually.. but they're 1600x1200.. convenient. Thanks for the knowledge though aha. That's very similar to my setup. However I have the 370 stock clock, and a locked 6700 I turned turbo off when I game because I really don't need it. I'm certain it has to be getting close to over though aha

I might just shove this 550watt I have chillin inside it. I used it with a stock clocked FX6300 and Radeon 7790 as my original work rig. Recently upgraded to this for my work/light gaming setup and parted my old one. PSU wasn't really worth selling to me. It's an XFX 550w bronze+ w/braided cables n such. I didn't use my productivity pc as much then as I do now though, so it was very lightly used. Figure it'd be worth the upgrade. I may be lazy and take it to my local shop and have them wire it all pretty for me for $15 lol.
