My monitor started getting stuck in standby mode today. I have to hold the power button down on my PC to shutdown and then power it back on to get my monitor to come out of sleep mode. What is going on? Here are my specs,
Corsair Carbide Series 300R Case
Thermaltake Smart M750W
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
AMD FX 8350 4.0GHz
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1600MHz
500GB Western Digital Caviar HDD
MSI R7870 Twin Frozr III OC Edition, GHz Edition, 2GB GDDR5
Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Sound Card
23" Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 Monitor
Doesn't sound like it's your pc's fault. Googled the problem and this seems like a typical Samsung monitor problem. People suggest unplugging the DVI cable at the back of your graphics card and reconnecting it with the monitor powered on. Did you check the settings yet, and does it say your resolution is not optimal or something?
Btw, I found this:
If the sleep mode is malfunctioning, which is sometimes the case, you can disable it by clicking start, then control panel, then power options, and on the left hand side you should see 'choose when to turn off the display'. It varies slightly for different versions of windows, but what you're looking for will be in the control panel under something mentioning power. The instructions I've given are for windows 7
But I don't like the moitor to be on all the time :/ It hasnt done it again since yesterday though. So if it happens again I will try unplugging my DVI cable and then plugging it back in to see if that works. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it :) Had this monitor since 2009 and never had this problem until now :/
