Monitor does not detect signal when switching KVM sources

I have the “1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Single Monitor - Four Computer” (SQ8002072). I’m running Fedora Linux or NetBSD on the source systems. I’m using a curved Monoprice monitor (product 38035 since links aren’t allowed in posts).

The computer plugged into PC1 works without issue. If I switch to another input, say PC2, and boot my NetBSD system, the monitor sees a signal and I can interact with the system. If I switch back to PC1, which has always worked (so far), then switch back to PC2, the monitor doesn’t seem to be able to detect a source. If I reboot the machine, then the monitor detects a source again and everything seems fine.

I’m getting green and red indicators for each system I have connected. Hotkeys work. PC1 works.

I’ve tried swapping cables around between PCs and ports; the cables certainly seem to work, but I’m really getting frustrated.

I’ve looked for other folks having similar issues. I found this thread (I
'd link to it, but, well, no links in posts) which seemed similar, but there’s no resolution.

I’d welcome any suggestions or help troubleshooting this.

This is my second KVM; neither have worked as expected and if I can't get either to work reliably, I'm just going to give up on trying to use them. They're not cheap and it feels like I'm playing an expensive lottery at this point.

Per the store page you can email me wendell at level1techs.com for support and include all the links you like.

Does the monitor have any power save or green options you can turn off? On linux whe. Using vesa fb as opposed to a proper driver with amdgpus there is an issue where the video card resets into an invalid mode. This is usally fixable by using the amdgpu driver instead of svga or vesafb.

Gpus in the mix would also be useful to know.

My two primary systems are using AMD APUs: a 5700G running Fedora with amdgpu (no issues with this system) and the other is a 3400G running NetBSD with the radeon driver ported from Linux (circa 4.4 kernel).

I can’t find a power saving mode for my monitor that I can disable.

Whats the video mode? When you switch to linux and nothhing is there can you do ctrlcalt f1 -f6 tonswitch vterminals? Does that work?
