Mobile Broadbant Router Help

I'm switching to mobile broadband since I live in the middle of nowhere and my internet speed sucks (2.7 mbps down, don't even ask about up).

With the plan I want to buy my internet provider (Drei (three) Austria) offers the "ZTE MF283+"  for 70€ or the "Huawei E3272" for free. Since the ZTE router most likely sucks I am thinking about getting a proper router and just using it with the Huawai stick. My budget is about 100€ - 150€ (preferably from amazon.de)

Any router suggestions,  ideas or better solutions?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have a pretty strong HSPA+ connection and my will get full 4G in july next year.

Three Austria have unlimited mobile broadband plans with 20mbps, 30mbps and 150mbps down for 20€, 25€ and 45€. I will most likely go for the 20 mbps plan and maybe upgrade later.

I'm currently paying 50€ a month for a buisness connection, which is the best wired connection i can get, and my current provider forces me to use a shitty locked down router I can access at all.

Have you looked at the Huawei E5151?

I have been using one for about eight months and it's been extremely good. It spends most of it's time connected to the modem port on my cable router. Occasionally I use it as a mobile network/broadband connection if I'm going somewhere where an accessible network and or broadband connection may not be available.

The downside is it's not 4g but to be honest for normal use it's plenty quick enough up and down, ping rates are generally high 50 ms average. The best download I have seen was around 12 Mbps DL and just over 5 Mbps up. The average seems to be just under 5 DL and approx 2 UL. I'm in a really close the the tower so I get good signal most of the time. There are good and bad days - today is a bad day and the speeds sucks 3 down and just over 1 up right now.

I haven't used it for gaming so I can't offer any feedback in that respect. I do some web development and manage a few websites, forum administration and general browsing, downloading, YT streaming etc. and some remote admin. I move around 110 GB of data a month.

In the past I have used a couple of the Huawei dongles, E5830, E585 and a Samsung S2 tethered and the E5151 has been the best experience so far. The wired LAN integration (10/100) is cool and was the main reason for purchasing the unit. The major downside is the ISPs NAT layer which makes remote access into my network a problem.

The unit isn't supplied with a mains PSU it comes with a short USB cable. My unit is always connected to the mains so I have no idea how good the battery life is.

I think I paid £50 for mine and it was money well spent. 5/5 *
