I just downloaded the 1.09 BIOS for the BD790i.
This requires navigating through a barrage of pop-ups and click-phishes.
It is unprofessional for a hardware company to host their downloads on a malware distribution site. I tried to find where other customers complained about this, but I didn’t find anything. When did this become normal?
I’m really enjoying this motherboard. It works great as a platform for my workload (ubuntu + GPU). I’m re-installing the OS from scratch this weekend, so I checked for the BIOS update as part of my prep.
If minisforum posted their checksums on their website, so I could verify the download, at least that would be something. For now, I’m not installing this BIOS.
It’s a Chinese company that barely has any margins, you’re Lucky you get bios updates.
It’s pretty much standard practice to use an ad blocker, I’d argue it’s a better defence again malware than most antivirus
It’s a much better solution than most small Chinese companies that host it in their own site with their own special brand of ccp malware and slow download speeds
I tried to download drivers from beelink and I was getting DSL speeds, it was 2.6GB zip with all the drivers bundled instead each having their own download, it took 3 hours
can you help me i just bought the bd 790i and nothing works! if i plug in a gpu it shuts of, i cant install the bios update and i cant disable secure boot because its gray
