Mini/Media PC suggestions

I have an Intel NUC 3150 media PC, but I am not very happy with it, so I would like to replace it.

It will be used mostly as a Media Player on a 4K TV, some retro gaming, or low requirements Steam games and will run Linux.

It should be fanless/noiseless and low wattage consumption, as it stays on 24/7.

I don’t mind building it myself if you would suggest components, but I prefer a ready made solution.

Budget e250 and available in EU.

When you say low req., are you saying older titles?

AMD 3000G [AM4] :
2C/4T, 4K support, Vega iGPU [3CU], DDR4 2666 [Zen1 limit],

ASRock X300 Barebone [AM4] :
Contains Mainboard / PSU; uses SO-DIMMs, M.2 + (2)2.5in bay,
Supports Ryzen 4000 (would have longevity, via CPU / Mem. upgrades)

Older titles, some “point-and-click” adventures, puzzle games, etc.

You can go with mITX and get a mITX case designed for an external power supply. I might be sending you down a rabbit hole but you can get what are called PICO power supplies.

A big trap about these is they are often 12volt input only, there are versions with multiple input voltages which makes them great for recycling old laptop chargers.
This is how I manged to get a 65 watt FM2+ APU into this case for my nephew. Its not silent but but Arctic has a nifty looking passive cooler called Alpine AM4 (AM2,3 4 and FM1 and FM2 all share the same mounting system) I would have gotten if I saw it in stock.

Check out a site like Mini-Box.com if you want to chase the white rabbit.
