Mini itx Uni htpc

Hello,

I want to recycle my old pc into a mini itx pc for my brother as all it needs is a cpu and motherboard.

he wants to play games like battlefront, call of duty, battlefield at 1080p, 60fps.

Would a locked cpu like the i5 4590 be the best choice with a h97 board?

Also, paired with a 7950 boost dual x from sapphire and 8gb ddr3 would it be enough to get 60 fps in the games I have mentionned

Dunno if ITX is really going to be worth it

otherwise, just drop the GPU and RAM I suppose, as you already have the GPU and RAM?

Well, he is going to uni in september so I guess I was mindful of size constraints in his room.

If i was going to go mini itx is there a motherboard you would recommend?

I believe some prices have changed, suppose the difference isn't much then

Cool, thanks for your help, would the core 500 be a good option for the case aswell?

I think the Elite 130 is a bit more compact, it's what I currently use, if you want the 240mm radiator support, the core 500 overall is a bit roomier as well.

Awesome, I will keep that in mind, thanks

R9-380 is basicly not realy a big step up from the 7950.
Infact they are allmost the same thing, only diffrence is that the 380 = Tonga and the 7950 is Tahiti.
It will not be worth it, to go upgrade to a R9-380 from a 7950 imo.

If you want a decent gpu upgrade, then something like a R9-390 or GTX970 would make more sense.
