Mid tower with 8 pcie slot?

Hi,
I’m looking for mid-tower case, with

  • 8 pcie slots
  • decent air flow
  • type-c and USB 3 front IO
  • no glass
  • no acrylic
  • no rgb
  • affordable

Is such case exist?

If you find them new, let us know  Your best bet is to look for (used) workstation PC’s like HP, Dell and Lenovo.

Typically even big cases will have 7 expansion slots, ATX motherboards can’t fit more.

If you are OK with used, Fractal Design Define XL R2 series are very big with roughly 9 slots. Or later XL models, but check spec for those.

It’s from 2013 but they are really well built. I still have Define R4 I bought in 2013.

The old Entroo Pro had 8 pci slots, came in a solid panel version. No USB C font header, but it had 3 5.25" slots so you can add one. It’s a “full tower” but it’s rather low in height to be called such (more like a large mid tower). Could be hard to find one that’s cheap or used in good condition.

Many modern cases have glass panels and crappy front i/o. The ones that have more than 7 pci slots have the extra ones set up specifically for vertical GPU mounting. Nothing prevents you from using those vertical slots to mount stuff, it may just end up being awkward or inconvenient.

That’s an option, but it’s a bit more lock down. I want to experience different configuration.

Is the thermal decent? My plan is to run couple of 150w to 200w gpu. The 8th slot technically is optional, I just need enough space to overhang two slot gpu from 7th slot.
I find Lian Li PC-8FI, maybe from the same era, but the IO and the thermal looks mediocre.

That’s a different beast.

I guess, full tower is the only option if I want 8 pcie slot. I really don’t want glass to shatter.
I’ve experimented m-ATX with pcie riser in CST350 (SAMA IM-01) to populate 5 pcie slot. A lot has to be compromised.

TBH probably, but I can’t say it will work 100% for your use case. Front panel is a bit restricted, but open the panel and it does pull more air in. If it’s really starved for fresh air you can open up the filter panel too.
I ran Radeon Vega 64 and 1700X at full tilt in it. Top is very open and bottom is okay-ish.

Sliger Cerberus X is a good option.

Silverstone RM51 is rack mount. But doesn’t have to be.

Maybe choosing a old case isn’t a bad idea.

In my region, I can get RM51 but not Cerberus X. Both pricey tho.

Well, if I just ignore the glass, Lian Li Lancool 207 or FSP CMT580 might be my best bet. Looks like CMT580 both panel is swap-able, and can overhang 8th slot.

My solution is to get a 7-slot case that also has vertical GPU mount position. To install a big card at the last PCIE slot, you mount it vertically with a riser cable.
