Mid-2009 Macbook Pro - Linux - Max Ram

I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro that runs POP-OS. Ive installed 8GB ram upgrade into from the measly 2GB that it came with. At the time I went with 8GB because I was still running El-Cap, and 8GB was the “supported” max that I found online. Im just curious if anyone has actual experience with exceeding the supported Max ram on one of these period MBP.

I swear that if its a ddr3 model with 2 slots of ram 16gb at a slower speed should work

Have you actually tried it on this model? I see mixed posts online saying it does and does not work.

When you say “slower” what speed are you saying will work at 16gb?

It might entirely depend on how many ranks the ram is
