Mhz and speed differences

for any veteran pc builders out there have you noticed a more drastic difference in ddr2 667-800 mhz memory clocks, what about 1066 ddr2 memory? Right now I am in the process of building a new homecomputer and really dont want to spend over 550 bucks (including vista 64 bit ultimate, so right now the parts are like 350$ but the OS brings the price waay up) I am wondering if I can drop the price by getting some slower ram, right now I am spending like 70 bucks on 4 gigs of 800mhz ddr2 memory. But are 1066mhz clocks a noticble difference in vista 64 bit over 800mhz? Because if it REALLY is then I want to get a differnt mobo and faster ram.

It matters if you have like 512 800Mhz compared to 512 1066Mhz

with 4GB of DDR2 800mhz and 4GB of DDR1066 you won't notice much, but your scores will be higher with 1066

Is your motherboard compatible with 1066?

Some cheap motherboards, Like mine for instance, say they are compatible with 1066 when really they can barely use it and they run extremely hot and unstable.

Just do some research on your board before going with 1066 is what im saying. :3 -nod-

You probably wont notice much of a difference and its probably not worth the money if you're on a budget

But then again vista is a ram hog so you might as well have faster sticks....

ram speeds dont seriously hurt performance unless you drop below a 1:1 ratio. with 800mhz ran that point is a 1600mhz fsb, so if ur running a fsb of like 333 the difference between 4gbs of 800mhz and 1066 would hardly be noticeable.

iv also heard that alot of ddr2 1066 is just factory oc'ed pc2-6400.

Plus, If your 800 is dual channel, You should get some bomb speed.

I only have a 32 bit operating system so i only have 2 gigs, but its fast as fuck

lol

i'm stuntin on my 533mhz, how you feel?

I feel...Inferior
