How many of you guys live near, and heard some of today's best heavy metal bands before they became big. I know I have and that is because i live in Ohio and near Cleveland. You probably have heard of them they are a band known as Mushroomhead, they began in Cleveland and still awesome today. Now they are signed with Filthy Hands/ Megaforce
I am in FL and the metal scene is terrible on the east coast... tampa is better... but I am not into the hardcore scene much...
where is the black metal scene in the USA? OR? WA? AZ? nowhere?
Basically any band from NY/NJ. Overkill would be the closest, they live about 20 miles from me.
I know Godsmack started here in Boston lol...
Blood Duster are a pretty popular Aussie Death Metal band, think they were started in Melbourne, which is about 1 hour away from me, Damaged, freaking awesome metal band started in ballarat, 5 minutes from me.

you gotta grow over to europe to find any decent bands such as forefather, falkenbach, or naglfar. but you already know tht dont you logan lol. yeah i really dont like USA's current popular music. 2000's suck the 60's had better music with stuff like the doors and bob dylan. tht is serious poetic lyrics right there

Gaahl lives in a valley not far from here. His nephew attends the same school as me, and his brother is building my friends house.
Sogndal with Windir and Cor Scorpii is only a coulpe of hours away. So Is Bergen.
Drowning Pool started up in my area. Thats pretty much I know, for that type.
But I know a lot of Christian Metal Bands that have come from my area-Dallas.

Mushroomhead - 12 Hundred
CKY was made over in west chester,PA i live about 30min away from that maybe less. CKY is a really good band although are rock so that wouldn't really count. as i lay dying started in PA but not sure if they are metal. don't listen to them much. nice to be a reasonable amount of time away from the electric factory and some other good venues.
yeah all mn has is prince..but thats not metal. atmosphere is good too but also not metal lol
