Memtest86 on ASRock wrx80 creator?

Hi all as in topic
ASRock wrx80 creator , anyone of y’all having issues running memtest86??

Just connected up my setup on the bench today to test before I commence my watercooling build … the software Ran once or twice but now it seems to stall when starting up
At “collecting memory controller details…”

Before I go re-seating CPUs and memory chips I thought I’d ask …
I am running 5975wx cpu and 128gb ecc reg dimms.
Memtest86 pro not sure which version not at.my PC now

I don’t know about memtest86 pro, but the memtest86+ project was apparently rewritten and had a major release a few days ago. Might be worth a try:

Wow thanks didn’t know this existed . Got a fright actually to be honest , this morning I actually re-seated the CPU and ram just to be sure … Same behaviour . What I’ve been able to reproduce is if the system has JUST come off of memory training like for example after bios reset ,then memtest86 will run Once and startup and test ram no problem . But after the first “cold” or warm reboot it’ll lockup on startup at checking memory spd… or on collecting memory details … It’s as if the bios system goes into a mode that memtest86 doesn’t run with .

Clear CMOS flash bios … that sort of thing , it’ll run once …each and every time but after next reboot it won’t run again . At all

Suffice to say I’ve re installed Windows today and ive been running passmark performance test …ran some crystal disks… Ran a cinebench r23 bench … scored 50060 with stock settings .

I’ve now been running prime95 stress test for last few hours no issues . System seems rock stable.

Issue seems to def be compatibility between memtest86 and new wrx80 platform .

One of my default “validations” I do with new builds is usually run memtest for a few passes …I’ll def check that project out .

use Google’s stressapptest for the memory stability testing. memtest doesn’t load the infinity fabric enough to produce errors in a lot of cases where you’ll get errors inside of 10 minutes from stressapptest. stressapptest -M MEM_IN_MB -s 28800 -W --pause_delay 28800 is a long test but it will definitely tell you if your memory is stable. you’ll also want to run prime95 at 192k ffts to check for infinity fabric stability in particular. 128gb dimms are gonna be fairly hard on the memory controller so expect it to be painful to get this all tested, especially if you’re trying to run speeds higher than 2666 MT/s.

Thanks! No I have 128gb in total . So 8 x 16gb

There is a bug if you have more than 16 cores, get the 1006 version from the forums and it works fine.
