Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot this. More in the progressive melodic death metal category, but Back to Times of Splendor by Disillusion is an absolute musical masterpiece. One on my top five albums of all time regardless of genre.
I have listened every In Flames album, from Lunar Strain through Sounds of a Playground Fading, and at the same time, I was listening to how the band went from good to not so good, in my opinion, that is. I liked all albums from Lunar Strain through Colony.
So anything with Christian Alvestam in it... hmm. You mean bands like Miseration, Solution .45, and The Few Against Many? I love his singing voice, so powerful and memorable. Damn, I wish he was still with Scar Symmetry.
Pretty much. I don't even listen to the Scar Symmetry stuff after he left. Most of those bands are pretty straight forward Gothenburg-style stuff. I've been really impressed with what I've heard out of Miseration lately. Unmoored has more of a progressive Stockholm-style sound with him on vocals and guitar.
I just listened to You recommendation for Nightrage, The Absence, and Torchbearer. I didn't listen to the Scar Symmetry one because I already knew who they were, and how badass they were before Christian left. I have enjoyed all of your recommendations, and have added three new bands to the list:
Nightrage
The Absence
Torchbearer
I'm not going to edit the thread again, because people can see this anyway. Thanks a lot!
I'd like to add my favourite melodic death metal band to this list that you guys should check out, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6K7LZ6cYf4&feature=kp this is their best song by far!
