nice stream today..

silly me, I thought it was the elk thing today, but also no stream last week or the week before…

will try and be a little more punctual next time!

Correct the punchi.tv site cost Thomas money for people to watch due to the VPS’s way of monetizing usage in these trying times. We need to figure out how to break even. It is about 100 USD a day in costs with the current site usage and it is bringing in about 32 USD of revenue a day.

It’s all good. Things kept changing and my communication has been subpar at best and untimely.

From yesterday’s impromptu stream…

Homemade Hamburger Helper® with smoked gouda and egg noodles. A truly U.S. American abomination.

From Caturday’s stream

Jamaican Curried Goat patties.

This looks like stroganoff…

It basically is. It’s just the twisted, mass-produced, and souless version of stroganoff.

Though, I’m sure Mastic’s version wasn’t any of those things.

:yay:

How is it hamburger, with no bread?

Is it hamburger like the hamburg steaks, tenderised under a sweaty saddle all day?

Definitely an Americanization and Bastardization. I made Stroganoff last month though. Completely different recipes.

Cooked ground beef is called hamburger, here.

So badically a deconsyructed Hamburg steak.

That is the basic of a Loot of foods, surely?

Even Mexican and French and others use around beef as a base…

True. We are an unimaginative culture when it comes to naming things. The key is that the cooked ground beef is the star of the show. Like hamburger pizza, Hmaburger Helper, Hamburger Sloppy Joe (Hamburger Manwich), and etc.

oh, I thought perhaps, the mix contained some binding agents or something, that made the meat clump together like meatballs or something? like egg or similar?

Japanese Hamburger/Hamburg steak uses 75% ground beef and 25% ground pork with milk and panko bread crumbs (for moisture) and an egg (the binder)

okay, that is what I would imagine you meant!..being a not-cook [myself],

Where as a seasoned professional [like you], would be like “I don’t need no ready mix”…

Haha. That is like every mom, grandma, and middle eastern uncle.

um, I think I may have been ambiguous..
if I can rephrase…

being a non-cook, I thought you meant the hamburger-helper, was a ready mix, whereas you are the seasoned professional, who need not use a ready mix.

I see. Yes, Hamburger Helper® is a ready spice and noodle mix. You supply the ground beef.

But yes, this is a made from scratch version based on memory of The spice mixture and Facny-fied with Smoked Gouda and American Wagyuu.

Considering my spice shelf(s) I don’t use ready spice mixes ever.

I have pastel and mortar and all my spices are grains or cloves or beans and i grind them miself.

Freshly ground spices give such nice boost of flavour…

But then again i can be classified as insane when it comes to food… Normal people just buy ground spices and spice mixes so they don’t have to bother and i don’t blame anyone for that. It’s a choice of convenience.

I do this occassionally, unless I am making Indian simmering sauces, then yeah, grind , toast, cook.

I did use my mortar and pestel for the cumin for the last dish. It is more cost effective to buy some of the spices in whole form and grind them myself and they keep their freshness/aroma/flavor longer that way.

Agreed.
